According to Google "Website Optimizer is a tool that can help you improve the effectiveness of your website in getting a return on your investment. By allowing you to test different versions of your site content, you can determine what will best attract users and lead them to convert on your site. Website Optimizer can help to improve your conversion rate and increase your ROI by enabling you to figure out what users on your site respond to best. Website Optimizer works by testing different versions of the content on your live site to see what will lead to the highest conversion rates. You provide us with the original content of your site and the different variations of that you'd like to try out. We run an experiment on a portion of your site traffic using those variations, to see the effect of each variation on your conversion rate. When we've collected sufficient data, we'll provide you with a full report of our findings that can help you determine what changes to make to your site"

Google is testing a click-to-call feature:
Sometimes you can see a phone icon next to the company's sponsored listings. By clicking on the icon, you can enter a phone number and click a "Connect for Free" button to be connected to the other party.
Here's how it works: When you click the phone icon, you'll be invited to enter your phone number. Once you click 'Connect For Free,' Google calls the number you provided. When you pick up, you hear ringing on the other end as Google connects you to the other party. When they answer, you simply talk normally as you would with any other call.
Google uses the phone number you enter just once, to make the automatic connection between you and the advertiser. Your number is blocked so that the advertiser can't see it. Google doesn't share your number with the advertiser, and we won't use the number to make any other calls to you. In addition, your information will be deleted from our servers after a period reasonably necessary to operate the service.
You will not be charged to connect to an advertiser. Google foots the bill for all calls, both local and long-distance. However, if you give Google a mobile phone number, your normal airtime fees or other fees charged by your provider for the call may apply. |

Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising refers to the text ads or "sponsored" entries you have seen in search engines such as MSN and Google. As the name implies, you pay only if the viewer clicks on your ad.If your budget is limited, the secret is knowing how low you should bid without losing sales or visitors and which PPC engines give you the best value for money. |
